For U.Va. students who are in town this summer and would like to get involved, here are just a few ways you can help continue and support the work of the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center:

  • Contribute your time and energy during “Cleaning Day,” an annual event that occurs during the summer at the Center.
  • Perform filing, copying, sorting and other related office duties.
  • Write for Iris Magazine, an online publication sponsored by the Women’s Center. The mission of Iris is not only to showcase women’s achievements at the University and within Charlottesville, in support of the women’s community and in conjunction with the Center’s mission to creating change, but to also underscore the relevance of women’s issues. Check out the Iris website to read content from this past school year, or visit the Center to read through copies of the magazine when it was still in print, to get a better idea of what you could write.
  • Curate content for promotion on the Women’s Center social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube) as well as engage followers through the Marketing Communications team!

Please note: These summer volunteer opportunities are different from the Women’s Center Volunteer Corps that takes place during the school year.
