Jane Miller’s “three families” were all in attendance on Sept. 18 when she accepted the Elizabeth Zintl Leadership Award at the U.Va. Harrison Institute/Small Special Collections Library.

The award is presented annually by the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center in memory of Elizabeth Zintl, who served as Chief of Staff in the Office of the President at the University. Given to a woman employee at U.Va., the award honors the high degree of professionalism, creativity and commitment that characterized Zintl.

Sharon Davie ’68 is a storyteller. Her voracious appetite for reading as a child led her to earn three degrees in English, author a number of poems and essays and teach dozens of literature courses at Kenyon College and the University of Virginia (UVA).

The U.Va.  Women’s Center is pleased to announce the selection of Jane Miller as the recipient of the 2014 Elizabeth Zintl Leadership Award.  Miller is the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Programs at U.Va. and has worked in the Athletics Department for almost 30 years. She is a passionate advocate for women in sports and a role model for all women.

The U.Va. Women’s Center is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 16th annual Elizabeth Zintl Leadership Award. The award is presented in memory of Elizabeth Zintl, an accomplished writer and journalist who served as Chief of Staff in the Office of the President at the University of Virginia.

Although most sports fans were gathering around their TV sets in their living rooms or making tailgate food in their kitchens in anticipation of the Super Bowl on Feb. 2, there were about 100 guests who gathered together at John Paul Jones Arena for a sports event of a different sort.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Two-time University of Virginia women’s volleyball MVP Amy (Mitchell) Griffin will be honored on National Girls and Women in Sports Day when the Cavalier women’s basketball team hosts Clemson on Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena.
