In memory of Elizabeth Zintl and her extraordinary leadership and service to the University of Virginia, this award honors women at the University whose high degree of professionalism, creativity, and commitment mirrors Elizabeth’s own. Join us in celebrating this year’s recipient, Carolyn M. Callahan, Ph.D. She is a professor in the U.Va. Curry School of Education, and is also associate director of the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented. She teaches courses in the area of education of the gifted, and is executive director of the Summer Enrichment Program. Dr. Callahanhas authored more than 130 articles and 25 book chapters on gifted education, focusing on creativity, the identification of gifted students, program evaluation, and the issues faced by gifted females.
