The UVa Women's Center maintains a list of UVa students who provide childcare. This is a very popular resource for community members and University employees. For more information, contact Sue Gerrans at 982-2361 or sjg3h@virginia.edu.
The childcare list is updated each fall and spring semester and can either be mailed to you or picked up at the Center. Through word-of-mouth, the Inter-Sorority Council, and flyers placed around the University, undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to stop by the Center and fill out an application. Recipients of the list will be supplied with the following information on each childcare provider: phone numbers, foreign languages spoken, hobbies and interests, whether they have their own transportation, age preferences, hours of availability, and child care experience. Please note that we do not conduct screening interviews or background checks on any childcare provider listed, and as such the Women's Center is released from liability. It is the responsibility of the parents to negotiate terms and pay rates.
