Women's Center hosts an array of events for International Women's Month in March

The interns and staff of the Women, Girls and Global Justice program at the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women's Center are excited to announce and invite the public to a series of events on the Grounds of the University of Virginia, taking place throughout the month of March in honor of International Women’s Month (IWM). The month of events was inspired by International Women's Day on March 8.

“Global Education for Girls” - Beverly Cobble Rodriguez Lectureship on March 17

UPDATE: We regret to inform you that today’s lecture on “Global Education for Girls: Opportunities and Challenges in Transforming Poverty” is cancelled due to Jessica Posner Odede’s illness. The “Beverly Cobble Rodriguez Lectureship Supporting Women’s Education and Global Leadership” will be rescheduled.

Jessica Posner Odede, COO and founder of Shining Hope for Communities, has been selected for the inaugural Beverly Cobble Rodriguez Lectureship. This lectureship will be an annual event for International Women's Month.

The lecture and discussion, “Global Education for Girls: Opportunities and Challenges in Transforming Poverty,” will begin at 5 p.m. with a reception to follow at 6:30 p.m. For more information on Jessica and this event, please visit this link.

"Global Girlhood: A Two-Part Film Series" on March 20, 21 and 24

This event is a two-part film series featuring the films, I Am A Girl by Rebecca Barry and HerStory by Sally Nuamah. "To Cameroon and Back: Empowering Girls in the Hills of Kumbo" on March 27
