Get to know Social Media Marketing Team intern AND YWLP Big Sister, Anna Taylor!

Year: 3rd
Major: English
Hometown: Richmond, VA

1. Why are you passionate about your program at the Women's Center?
I’m passionate about my program, because it is what I want to do with my life. Especially the process of creating items used to market; I find the process very rewarding when I see what I created being viewed by others.

2. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I see myself working in advertisement for a non-profit in my hometown of Richmond, VA, living in a slightly Bohemian styled home in the city, with maybe a husband and a two year old child.

3. What other organizations are you involved with at UVA?
I’m involved with the Organization of African Students, I am on the exec team as the director of marketing. I am also chair of the “Lifting the Shades” event of Take Back the Night. Also, I am a big sister with YWLP, and I sing in Black Voices gospel choir.

4. What is your favorite memory of UVA thus far?
My favorite memory of UVA comes from first year. I would always hang out in the Cauthen 4th floor lounge with my best friends and “do homework”. That is where I developed some of the closest friendships and laughed the hardest in my life. I apologize to anyone who lived on Cauthen 4th floor in 2015-2016, and had to put up with us.

5. What is something you know you do differently than other people?
I really had to think about this. I’d guess I deal with stress differently than other people, or at least most people. Whenever I get stressed I turn on some music and I pace. I pace back and forth like people do in sitcoms when they’re stressed about something, and if the music is good I might stop to dance. They say exercise is a good release of stress, but I’m too lazy to go to the gym, so I just pace.

6. What is your guilty pleasure?
Krispy Kreme donuts hands down. When the built the Charlottesville Krispy Kreme it was bitter sweet, because the donuts are SOOO good, but its not healthy so I feel guilty after I eat it. Whenever I get some I have to fight myself to only eat 1-2 a day. I’m excited for Sugar Shack to open near the corner because they are right behind Krispy Kreme on my list of favorite donut places.
