Our very own Body Positive Coordinator, Nora Arkin, and Senior Body Positive Intern, Tricia O'Donnell traveled to San Diego for the 2015 NEDA Conference, where they expanded their knowledge of eating disorders treatment, support, and prevention. They even got to meet Jennifer Siebel Newsom, director, writer, and producer of the documentaries, "Miss Representation" and "The Mask You Live In".

Event initiates discussion on body image, creates memories for U.Va. Family Weekend
The third annual Mother-Daughter Tea at the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center welcomed about 20 guests during last month’s U.Va. Family Weekend. This engaging and powerful event was “the most successful in the past three years” in terms of the amount of interaction and depth of dialogue between interns, staff, mothers and daughters.

Second-year student in the College of Arts & Sciences, Tricia O’Donnell, attended last year’s Perfect Illusions event on a whim, but this year, as a Body Positive intern at the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center, there is no way she will miss it.
“I was initially reluctant because it seemed intimidating,” O’Donnell said, “but I decided last minute to show up. I am so glad I did, because it was very inspiring and powerful.

Family Weekend to the third annual Mother-Daughter Tea on Oct. 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is a fun, informative and inspirational event to engage those “who have a valuable role in supporting body positivity with their children.”
