1.    What brought you to the Women's Center?
I've been here for 3 years now and originally, I was really interested in getting involved with survivor support work again. I've stayed because I love the community and the people I get to work with.

1.    What brought you to the Women's Center?

My first-year RA inspired me to apply to the Women's Center because she would always tell me about the amazing opportunities she had while being an intern. The women's Center is more than just a program, it's a family of incredible women who motivate and inspire each other to be the best versions of ourselves.

1.    What brought you to the Women's Center?

I was attracted to the welcoming environment full of diverse women who I knew I'd be able to depend on and learn from.

2.    What is your favorite memory of UVA thus far?

My favorite memories at UVA have all been nights I've spent kicking it at my crib with my friends and us just enjoying each other's company.

Alumna Spotlight: Dejah Carter

After graduating from UVA in 2014 with a degree in History and African-American and African Studies, Dejah Carter returned to UVA for her Masters in Higher Ed in Student Affairs and joined the Women’s Center as a Greer Fellow. The impact of her work with the center’s Women, Girls & Global Justice team that year is still felt today with the programs she helped build like the Black Womanhood in College Workshop. She is currently the Assistant Director at the Women’s Community Center at Stanford University.

I came to the Women’s Center because of my desire to get more involved in the Charlottesville community and my concern for social issues.

Planned Parenthood Generation Action and Madison House.

There are many areas that need to see improvement in society, and with the Women's Center I can help facilitate some of the change that needs to be made.
