I admire the Women’s Center as a hub of positivity, and I am eager to collaborate with and learn from activist women. I was especially interested to join the Social Media Marketing team because I wanted to use my love for words and interest in multimedia to amplify important voices.

I was drawn to the Women's Center because this is a space that prioritizes inclusion, compassion, and kindness, and those kind of spaces at UVA are so important for students that want to take a break from competitive or stressful spaces.

After transferring my second year, I struggled to find my place and voice at UVA. The Women's Center and Iris give me a place to talk to like-minded, passionate people.

It is a time of hyper-partisan politics and corresponding heightened tension around our everyday interactions, especially online. At the Women’s Center, we hear frequently from people looking for support as they seek to engage with the news in ways that are mindful of their personal resources.

I came to the Women's Center because I was looking for a way to get more involved in violence prevention work. I did a lot with it in high school, so after not really knowing where to start my first year, I decided I would apply to the internship to have some more direction my second year.
