Our staff is pleased to support The Rugby Project, which was born in 2023 when two students saw the need to revitalize the University’s approach to sexual harm prevention, specifically within Greek Life. In an effort to increase engagement with prevention education, the driving principle of The Rugby Project is near-peer education. The goal of the project is to educate a member from each Greek chapter and major student organization around Grounds to serve not only as an educational aid but also as a personal resource and advocate for their community.

To become a member of the Rugby Project, students take a 2-credit course offered each spring (EDHS 3240). During class, students will learn about the history of sexual harm prevention at UVA, the current organizations and administration involved in this work, and the valuable skills needed to support their peers.

After taking the course, each member will aid in presenting educational resources to their own chapters while serving as a touchpoint for prevention across Grounds.
