Members of our Counseling & Wellness Services Team at the Women's Center offer support groups in addition to sessions in which they see individual clients. They also share information about groups being offered by colleagues in other offices across Grounds.
Please email Cathy Erickson if you are interested in participating one of these groups. Groups will be filled with interested students on a first come first served basis.
Wellness & Connection
Whether your time is limited, you haven’t met many people here, or your social options feel limited by the ongoing pandemic, it isn’t easy to connect with other students in college. This group is a time for students to come together and talk about what’s hard, what’s different, and what helps in college. Peer sharing and support will be the primary focus of this group, with some discussion of skills/strategies for improving wellness.
Fall 2021: This group will be offered in two formats, a virtual group held on zoom and an in-person group held outside on grounds. The virtual option will allow students with a tight schedule, who live far from grounds or who have concerns about the virus to participate easily. The in-person group will be for students comfortable with participation in an outdoor group on grounds and who would enjoy interacting with our therapy dog, Poe. The groups will meet each on Fridays for 1 hour and will start on September 24. Meeting times and format will be coordinated with group members.
Sexual Assault Survivors Group
Survivors of sexual assault are invited to join this group for peer support and discussion of skills and strategies that aid in healing from a traumatic event.
Fall 2021: This group will meet for 1 hour on Fridays starting October 1. We will determine whether to meet virtually or in person based on group members' preferences.
