YWLP is in the right place at the right time

The middle school years are the most difficult time for many students. Mentoring can make all the difference as kids navigate changing selves and shifting group dynamics – all while preparing to handle increased freedom paired with far greater academic and social pressures in high school.

YWLP collaborates with the local middle schools at which these groups are based. This ensures that our mentoring efforts are reaching those students who can benefit the most. School faculty and staff help match undergraduate mentors with middle school students who demonstrate potential to be leaders in their schools and neighborhoods. By promoting leadership, YWLP benefits not only the programs’ participants, but others in these students’ classrooms and neighborhoods as well. YWLP focuses on developing the leadership potential of both our Big and Little Sisters.
