Rachel is a second year undergraduate in the College of Arts and Sciences, and one of the recipients of the Harrison Undergraduate Research Award for her work studying how macrophages control calcium within the MCU complex. Research on these processes could lead to new therapeutic treatments for Alzheimer's, autoimmune diseases, and more. Her passion for research continues to develop as she is given more responsibilities in her lab, and she is constantly inspired by one of her lab mentors, Taylor Downs, who will be starting at UVA’s medical school in the fall. Congrats, Rachel, and happy International Women’s Month!
