1. What brought you to the Women's Center?

A desire to engage more with the UVA and Charlottesville community

2. What is your favorite memory of UVA so far?

Sometime during Fall 2022 I looked around at my life at UVA and felt fulfilled in my friendships, communities, and academic interests. That ongoing sense of belonging has been my best memory at UVA.

3. Who is a woman that inspires you?

My mom inspires me. She is a kind, intelligent, and driven woman who has worked tirelessly to protect and embrace public lands in southwestern Colorado. She instilled in me a love of nature and a desire to do good in the world. I am constantly amazed by her capacity to give sound advice, overcome challenges, and be a great mother.

4. What is one thing you do after a stressful day?

I go home and spend time with my cat, Phoebe!

5. How does your work at the Women's Center motivate you?

Navigating our legal system can feel like an insurmountable task. But the knowledge shared by attorneys at the Women's Center Free Legal Clinic empowers clients to take action. At the Clinic, we often work with community members who are on the very first step of their journey toward wellbeing and safety—getting legal advice. Being a small part of the process motivates me because there is something beautiful about helping someone make that first step. It gives me hope that people can escape adverse situations, whether they are victims of domestic violence or face an unsafe housing situation.

6. What is a podcast/TV show/book, etc. that's grabbed your attention recently?

"Strict Scrutiny" from Crooked Media is my longtime favorite. It is a podcast hosted by an all-women group of legal scholars. They do a fantastic job making difficult legal topics—particularly those in upcoming Supreme Court cases—accessible to everyone. They also toss Taylor Swift and other pop culture references into their analysis, which I find delightful!
