The Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center offers a therapy group for faculty and staff who have experienced sexual assault. The group focuses on triggers in the work place, as well as self-care, among other topics. The group is open to men and women. For more information on a similar group for students, visit this link.

Within the first work week of the New Year, the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center has played a role within different types of training sessions focusing on support for survivors of sexual assault and the prevention of sexual assault.

With the help of their Bigs, Littles recently conquered “the biggest fear most people have,” according to U.Va. Drama Associate Professor Kate Burke: Speaking in public.

On Dec. 6, the Young Women Leaders Program gathered in the afternoon for its annual Fall Finale at Newcomb Hall that kicked off with lunch and a special motivational talk from Burke for the Bigs and Littles, prior to performing choreographed and rehearsed musical presentations to families and peers.

Through the Office of the Provost, the Women's Center has recently received funding for an education outreach/prevention specialist for the Gender Violence and Social Change program, as well as a full-time counselor in residence with experience in trauma. We especially thank the Women's Leadership Council - the President's Advisory Committee on women's concerns - and Marcus Martin, the Vice President for Diversity and Equity.

The Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center is proud and grateful to have continuous support from the U.Va. Parents Fund.

During this time of year, the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center recognized the need for some festive cheer around the office, especially after the pain many have felt this semester.

By serving its local community as well as creating moments of quality bonding time among Women's Center staff and its student interns, the Center has chosen to celebrate the season with the following traditions:

The Women’s Center is excited to welcome the newest addition to our staff, Dr. Jaronda J. Miller. Jaronda is the Program Director for Women, Girls and Global Justice, the Young Women Leaders Program (YWLP), and Engaged Scholarship.
